The cosmonauts garden is located north of the city behind the Cosmonaut Hotel, where cosmonauts stay before their launch. For the first flights, they stayed in the " Gagarin house” located in the cosmodrome. This is the only really green space in Baikonur. Three allays are lined with trees, traditionally planted by each cosmonaut before his first launch.  The main alley dedicated to the first cosmonauts is well maintained and the trees are vigorous.  The first tree to the left is the tree planted by Gagarin  DSCF2625
The two aisles dedicated to latest cosmonauts are somewhat neglected. In fact, many trees are dead. The tree of Jean Loup Chrétien is skinny. Note: the date on the panel (1989) does not match any flights from Jean-Loup Chrétien with the Soviets (1982 and 1988).  The tree of Michel Tognini (1992) is dead.  At the end of the main alley a Proton rocket model overlooking the Syr-Darya River.
